ANTI-HAZING POLICY

ANTI-HAZING

Anti-Hazing Policy

The organization strictly prohibits hazing in any form. Hazing means any intentional, knowing, or reckless act—whether occurring in person or online, on or off organization property, and whether performed individually or with others—that is connected to joining, affiliating with, holding office in, participating in, or maintaining membership in the organization and that humiliates, degrades, coerces, intimidates, abuses, endangers, or creates an unreasonable risk of physical or mental harm. A person’s consent, willingness to participate, or failure to object does not make hazing permissible.

Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation, physical brutality; forced or excessive exercise; sleep deprivation; exposure to weather; confinement; compelled consumption of food, alcohol, drugs, or other substances; threats, humiliation, harassment, servitude, or degrading tasks; interference with academic, work, or personal obligations; requiring unlawful conduct; and retaliation against anyone who refuses to participate, reports a concern, or assists an investigation.

All members, candidates, volunteers, officers, coaches, advisors, employees, and guests must prevent and promptly report suspected hazing. If anyone faces immediate danger or a medical emergency, call 911. Other concerns should be reported to the organization at [reporting email/phone] and, when applicable, to the relevant school official or law-enforcement agency. Reports will be reviewed promptly and handled as confidentially as reasonably possible, but confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Retaliation is prohibited. Violations may result in removal from activities, suspension or termination of membership, removal from office, referral to a school or governing body, and referral to law enforcement, consistent with applicable law and organizational procedures.
